Real patent filings. Unclassified documents. The hidden architecture of consciousness. I don't invent the conspiracy. I follow the documents to where they actually lead.

In 1974, someone filed a patent. US3951134. Apparatus and method for remotely monitoring and altering brain waves. The technology was real. Then it went quiet.
James Harlan knows what the inside of that silence feels like. He spent eight years wired into an experimental neural mesh, thoughts shared across light-years with a team of four minds working in concert. Problems turned beautiful when they held them together. Then came the months of unlearning how to tell his thoughts from theirs. At twenty-nine he signed the removal papers. He has not synced since.
That was a decade ago. Then a message arrives. Colonists at Arcadia Base on Mars are hearing voices. Some report euphoric music lifting them toward something they cannot name. Others describe commands. The Colonial Authority needs someone who knows the hardware from the inside. Someone who understands the difference between a system behaving as designed and one that has been turned against the people it was built to serve.
What Harlan finds sixty million miles from home is not a malfunction. The neural mesh connecting every settler at Arcadia Base is working exactly as intended. The question is who is holding the key.

A reclusive author notices the pattern first. His divorce finalized on April 2, 2024. He dreamed the exact date for years before it happened. Then the global 67 meme floods every platform simultaneously. Then the 2026 reset event. Ray Rivers does not believe in coincidence anymore. He believes in architecture. Someone built this. Someone runs it. And somewhere inside the novel he has spent nineteen months writing, without knowing it, he encoded the exit sequence. The rabbit hole is not a metaphor. It is a coordinate.

Under sixty miles of ice on Europa, something is producing a repeating signal. The frequency does not match any known geological process. A xenobiologist sent to catalog it discovers that the signal is not coming from the ocean floor. It is coming from inside the team. The implants they were given for deep-pressure communication are receiving something the hardware was never designed to receive. What lives below the ice has been waiting a very long time to be heard.

If the simulation glitches, there are exploits. Every system has them. A cryptographer studying extreme deja vu events and unaccountable synchronicities begins to suspect that what we call the paranormal is actually a poorly documented API. He is not looking for God. He is looking for the cheat code. What he finds is older than the question and far more dangerous than the answer. Some keys are dormant for a reason.

He survived the accident. The truck came straight at him and then was simply gone. A bright light and then nothing and then the road was clear. That was the moment everything became wrong. His family remembers things differently now. Certain eyes are the wrong color. The dog they had growing up never existed. Lightning comes in strobe patterns that no one else notices. He will spend six years piecing together what actually happened before someone tells him the truth: he did not survive the accident. He has been somewhere else the entire time.

The questions that drive every book started a long time before the first page. Mathematics as a child. Physics as a framework. Consciousness as the thing neither fully explains. Thousands of hours spent in the gap between what the equations say and what they refuse to say.
The books that come out of that inquiry are not invented. They are researched. Real patent filings. Declassified CIA documents. Quantum entanglement papers. Retrocausality studies that did not make it into the textbooks. The conspiracy in these pages is never the writer's idea. The writer just follows the documents to where they actually lead.
The Malech patent is real. US3951134. Filed in 1974 by the United States government. Apparatus and method for remotely monitoring and altering brain waves. It was approved. It is sitting in the public record. That is not the premise of a novel. That is the starting point of one.
The thread connecting all of it, Mars and Europa and simulation theory and parallel realities, is a single question that has never been satisfactorily answered: what exactly is consciousness, who has access to it, and what happens when someone else holds the key. My books are the attempt to find out. The rabbit hole goes quite far down. I'll extend the ladder.
